What are the best ways to get from Paris to Manchester (UK)? I'm travelling to Paris in October. I'm wanting to visit a friend in Manchester, seeing that I'm travelling all the way from Australia! Merci:)

I suppose it depends a bit on how much time you have but flying would definitely be the quickest and quite probably cheapest as I think British rail is rather expensive. Flybe, a British low cost carrier has mid week return flights for 88GBP. This would certainly compare favorably with taking the Eurostar.

Something to keep in mind - the cheaper airlines often have weight restrictions for luggage which may be quite a bit less than you expect (eg if you're flying Qantas to Paris it's 20kg; a cheap airline may only allow 15kg with a hefty cost per additional kg over).

You could also fly easyjet to Liverpool and then catch the terravision express bus from the airport to Manchester Victoria
