Hi everyone,
Im heading to Prague at the start of sept for 4 days.
I booked to stay with www.Rentego.com as they seem to be centrally located and v.good price, was just wondering if anyone has any experience with them?
Also was wondering qhat the average price of beer would be, I have heard to get away from the main tourist centres but how far do u need to be going??

we paid nearly 3 times the 35k hotel extol inn price in the tourist areas of prague (2 years ago)

keep away from these areas if you can for buying drink and food - look where the locals are going and it will be cheaper

we bought a couple of bottles of water from the shop near the hotel before we went sight seeing and then found places not on the tourist trap. hope this helps

I found the pivovars (micro-breweries) to be excellent value (superb beer, and good food too). I have tips about specific places on my Prague page.

Just don't go into any of the bars etc on the main touristy streets or near tourist sights unless you want to pay over the going rate (as in most European cities), for food as well as beer/coffee etc. Walk a few streets away to find a pivovar/pub/cafe/restaurant.

There are several in the city, all of which serve excellent (in my opinion) beer and food.

Hi You are right in getting off the tourist strip for beer and meals, local restaurants will be half the price and better food, you only have to walk a few streets back.

Check out menus in windows or ask before you take a seat. You will know a local restaurant by the patrons inside, not tourists.
