Hi newbie320! Are you also filipino? Thanks for being so patient with all my questions 1. Can we wear sleeveless shirts at the Big Buddha on Lantau Island? Is there a Dress Code at the Big Buddha? 2. Are the Street Food in Hong Kong like those in Thailand safe to eat? 3. Would you know which Bank gives the Best Rates Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! |

Hello puppiez,
Yes, I am a Filipino, too. =) No problem on that. I'm glad to help. (Who knows I might need your help regarding Thailand someday. hehe) 1. Yes, you can. I assume you will not go inside the temple anyway. Big Buddha is just a big statue. Just think about the Lourdes grotto in Baguio. You need to climb up the stairs to get reach the top. =) 2. Sorry, I haven't tried street foods in HK. They do have this smelly tofu which is famous. 3. No idea. When you exchange with bank and subtract their service charge (around 50 or 80HKD), it will turn out that you will get smaller amount from them than that of the local money changer. So better go to the money changer or just buy some HKD here in Manila. Oh BTW, USD is accepted in some stores like Giordano and Bossini for example, just make sure you use smaller bill and not the 100-dollar bill. And of course, credit card is accepted, too. =) If you have further questions, feel free to email me at fhel320@yahoo.com.

Hi there, yes you can wear anything at the Big Buddha. In addition to the buddha there is also a small memorial temple/room below the buddha. It gets very hot during summer so you will need sleeveless and light clothing in that area. Also go across to Po Lin Monastery and Wisdom Path. It's beautiful there. Try and get there in the morning when it first opens at 10:00 to avoid large crowds.
Enjoy.
