Buenos Aires Travel Forum

Hi,

My girlfriend and I will be in Buenos Aires during the first week or ten days of August which will include her birthday. I'd like to do something to surprise her, but I'm not at all familiar with the city. I'm thinking maybe a nice night out or a day trip somewhere, but I'm really open to any other suggestions as well. I should mention that neither of us are interested in dancing which sort of eliminates a few of the more obvious possibilities. Maybe theater? Can anyone recommend a theater? She is Colombian so one possiblity would include a Colombian restaurant. Does anyone have any recommendations along those lines? Looked through the restaurant listings on the site and didn't see anything.

You may go to "Tango Porteņo", dinner and show in this huge ex-cinema (my favorite as such; I will have one in my heaven). I have heard excelent recomendations on both. The place is located right near the Obelisco.
On theaters, it will be the local version of "Hairspray", with Enrique Pinti in the rol made by John Travolta.

Enjoy the visit. There must be other teather possibilities, but many changes are expected by the end of the winter vacations here.
Buy the tickets for Hairspray in advance.

I've actually eaten at that Colombian restaurant before - it's definitely not a luxurious place by any means, but the food is great and I know they have live music sometimes at night, so you could call them for that schedule.
