| Denver | Bike Riding in Denver Posted: Tue July 8, 2008 07:40 PM UTC
I'm Coming to Denver for a few months and am wondering if I have my bike with me if it will be neccesary to rent a car downtown or if one could just bike ride all over the downtown. Are there bike lanes at all? I am experienced in bike riding in a city- I ride to work everyday 7 miles each way in Chicago.

Denver's very bike-friendly. Parking isn't especially easy in Downtown Denver, so I would think that you'd have an advantage. You can also take your bike on the light rail system with a pass that's available for free (although I've never seen the transit cops actually check anyone for it) and all the RTD buses have bike racks on the front of them.
It's a little hilly in central Denver. LoDo is below Downtown and Capitol Hill is above Downtown. Fairly flat in between and elsewhere. It's nothing like San Francisco or Seattle though.

You can Google "Downtown Denver Bike Commuting", or something similar, and you get hits. You could probably get more specific information that way. Gary

I've commuted many times in Denver with a bike and found it to be very easy. Among other things, the drivers in Denver tend to be much more courteous to bikes than many other cities (downtown Chicago or the Loop for example).

Off course you can drive good in city, Chicago. I think you can hire car for downtown travel as well as Rocky Mountains area. Denver is outstanding place to visit due high mountains area, Park, bars, hotels and specially Denver Limousine services. I am also good biker and I think in new city or area traveling is little different.anyway
All the Best...... Sherry
