Naples Naples to Capri to Sorrento
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 10:58 PM UTC
The last post was very helpful. Could someone add to that.

1. How much does it cost (approximately) to get from Capri to Sorrento on the hydrofoil?

2. How much is the train from Sorrento to Pompeii?

3. How much does it cost to enter Pompeii?

4. How much is the cost of the train from Pompeii to Naples?

5. How much does it cost to get from the train station to the cruise ship terminal by taxi? Does one have to bargain or are the taxis honest?

6. How easy is it to catch the hydrofoil to Capri? Does one have to make a reservation on line or can we just walk up and buy a ticket (even with all the cruise passengers disembarking at the same time?)

Thank-you ahead of time for all the answers.

The hydrofoil from Capri to Sorrento will cost you between 9.80 to 14.50 euros one way. Here is the website

www.capri.com/en/orari-traghetti

A train from Sorrento to Pompeii will cost you approxiametely 8 euros both ways. It'll cost you about the same from Pompeii to Naples. Entrance to Pompeii will cost you 11 euros.
The taxi from the pier to Napoli Centrale will cost you about 10 euros. The taxis are never honest, ask what the fare is before getting in the cab and when you ride ends make sure to stay in the cab until you get your change back and always count the money you are giving to the cab driver. Also the cab driver will tell you that he'll take you to Pompeii and back for 100 euros and that the train won't run until later on in the day. Don't believe this trains to Pompeii run every half hour or so. I can't help you with the last question but you can check on the website I've given you and maybe it can help.

Just been looking in my notebook from our February trip and can come up with the following prices.

Train to Pompeii from Sorrento: Euro 3.80 return

Entrance to Pompeii: Euro 10.00

Audio Guide: Euro 5.00

Train from Pompeii to Naples - I don't know but it won't be much.

Train from Sorrento to Naples: Euro 6.60 return (weekday)
Train from Sorrento to Naples: Eruo 5.20 return (Sunday)
