Could anyone recommemd a decent self-catering apartment/accommodation in Sydney? A group of five of us will be visiting from around 12-22 August. Thanks in advance for any recommendations and/or suggestions.

Hey there - not sure what your budget is nor where you'd like to stay (CBD vs. Bondi vs....), so I'd recommend having a look at:
www.stayz.com.au They have heaps of choices on there, and August isn't the busiest time in Sydney, so you should find a pretty nice deal. hope that helps!

Don't know what your budget is but if you want to stay in the City Centre, I can certainly recommend the Meriton Apartments in Pitt Street. Just Google up Meriton, they have a good website with all the details you might be looking for. The apartments are very modern and are located in a fabulous part of the city right in the middle of everything and close to all means of transport out of the CBD.

Hi
Try Portofino Serviced Apartments in North Sydney or Randwick Furnished Apartments. http://www.portofinoapartments.com.au http://www.randwick-serviced-apartments-sydney.com.au/ Or a general site: www.sydneyservicedapartments.net/ Both of these apartments are NOT in the city but have good transport options. Hope this helps, John

i have used Southern Cross apartments, Darling Harbour, and found them good, and a friend stayed at Goldsbrough apartments, the other side of Darling Harbour over near the Convention centre and she liked that very much. If you google wotif and tick "with kitchen(ette)" it will bring up your options.

Yes, I fully agree, Southern Cross service apartments at Darling Harbour are very decently appointed & guess what ?! You don't have to sell your internal organs to pay for this !!
Location is good, within walking distance of Darling Harbour, at the corner of Goulburn Rad, & a few steps away from Chinatown, home to lots of lovely food, nice pubs & numerous nice restaurants. Go up towards Darling Harbour & have a seafood dinner at "Nick's Seafood", I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I've still got cherished memories of my lovingly prepared Grilled Red Snapper, accompanied by an excellent Riesling. Also, the waitress burst out laughing when I said all I wanted for dessert was either a Brandy Alexander or an Irish coffee, & told me I was the most original customer they ever had :) Enjoy yourself in Sydney.
