Boulogne-sur-Mer arriving from calais
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 06:01 PM UTC
My daughter and I are arriving by boat to calais then hopefully getting a train to boulogne. This doesnt appear to be as easy as I first thought. Does anyone know how frequent the trains are ? Also we shall be there whilst the fish festival is on. Does anyone know much about this ?

Thank you

You can look at www.sncf.com

Or you can look at:

http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/englisch/international_guests.shtml

which is excellent for all European trains, but only gives fares for journeys starting in Germany.

There are trains from Calais Ville to Boulogne Ville roughly every hour/couple of hours, taking from around 40 minutes to 1 hour+.

The Fête du Poisson (Seafood festival) is from 25 July-4 August.
So I took the Monday morning 28 July for a train search at www.voyages-sncf.com

You don't need to worry, there are numerous trains per hour. Every 10-20 minutes or so. The trip takes between 23 minutes to 1 hour and the cost is between 6 euro and 7.30 euro ONE-WAY.

On a Saturday morning less frequent, but still one or two per hour.

Ah, that's interesting. What is correct?

Boulogne-sur-mer's Tourist Information Office website states:
From Friday 07/25/2008 to Monday 08/04/2008

The Northern France tourist info says it's 1/8 to 4/8:

http://www.northernfrance-tourism.com/en/agenda/FMANPC000FS001D5/fish-festival-in-boulogne-sur-mer.html

And this site says from 25/7 to 4/8:

Do they have it in two main sections, perhaps, with lots of fishy business in between? :-)

Thanks all for your help. shall have to sort fish festival when we get there I think. Have only just found out that Speed Feries are now taking foot passengers to Boulogne, so that may solve all our problems.
