| Darwin | Sleep at the airport Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 01:15 PM UTC
Hi,
I will arrive at Darwin at 00.15 and will have 24 hours stopover in that city at mid July. So, I am thinking not to stay at any hotel but trying to sleep at the airport. Is it possible? If yes, can anyone suggest me the place to do it (any lounge or waiting room maybe)and a place to storage my luggage (locker) while I do city tour? Also, any suggestion about places to visit in Darwin? Thank you very much in advance for your reply. |

To spend 24 hours in an airport would be awful, it is not quiet and cleaners with noisy machines work at night. A youth hostel would not cost very much. I would strongly recommend an Hostel.

I was in Darwin in May this year and don't recall seeing any luggage lockers at the airport. As many flights arrive in the small hours of the morning to this airport, plenty of people put their heads down in the arrivals lounge at one end of the terminal.

When I was in Darwin recently, backpacking seemed the way to go..Its cheap and much better than being stuck in an airport. Darwin is relatively small, so getting around is cheap as well. have fun...its a great laid back place.

I was in the Darwin airport last week. I didn't see any sleepers, as my flights were mid-day, and also I was in the business class lounge. However, in my past backpacking days, I probably would have slept here. Here are some reviews from www.sleepinginairports.com, however, they are a bit old and the airport has been since remodeled and looks rather better than these reviews would imply:
