| Milan | Weekend markets in Milan Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 01:14 PM UTC
I just heard that thereīs markets in Milan in weekends, selling also new clothes, witch are little"different".Like hippies, gothic, gypsies etc.Iīd like to go and see.We will be one weekend in Milan two and half weeks from now.Where do we find these markets?Of course I can ask there when we go,but I like to plan our days before,at least when we donīt have so many days to be there-weīll fly to Rome for longer time.
We like gothic and heavyrock-styled "party-clothes"-if someone knows some other places to go,you can suggest! If places are far from city,we wonīt waste our time for that, because main reason to go to Milan and Rome is the hiostory, not shopping! ;) At Rome weīll stay 9―days. |

In Milan I think you refer to markets held on weekend in the Navigli area. I am not sure you will find them in summer. When I went there the last time it was January. Hope that someone living in Milan will be more helpful. In Rome Porta Portese 2° hand market is full of everything but it's a bit touristy

Thank you!maybe itīs the right area.I just have to find my Milan-map and check where it is ;)
The person who told about these had lived in Milan, but forgotten exact place for markets, and I understood that they are held this time also.Of course if someone konows more-please tell me. I think we will go to Porta portese also.(allthough last time it was full of pick-pockets-gotta be careful!)We donīt like typical shopping, but in this kind of places you might find something interesting-we have some that kind of"souvenirs",witch are better than from souvenir-shops.I have been to Rome, but I was 18 then,so itīs nice to go back. And at milan and Bergamo I havenīt been at all,so they are new to me.My husband hasnīt even gone to Rome,we met when I was 21.

it has nothing to do with your forum, but when in Milan do not miss the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. You can find a lot of tips about it, mine also and pay attention, you have to book in advance.
bye

The right place you're looking for is probably the "fiera di senigallia" which is held every saturday (9am-5pm about) close to Porta Genova train station (yes, navigli area is right). You can go there by subway (line green n. 2 - stop Porta Genova) or just walking around the area you'll find. Everybody knows it!
Cheers, Roberto

Thanks!Actually someone told me that yesterday in email. So we shouldnīt stay too long in pubs in friday to be fresh in the morning for market ;).our hotel is near Duomo. We come from Bergamo at friday-does anyone know witch trainstation it will be?We also will go back from it,when we fly to Rome from Bergamo.
it has been coldest summer untill today for 15 years in Finland! It has been only 4 times over +25c(!!!!),I even got a summer-flu.I canīt wait to come to Italy. My sister just came there, and told it was +30 at 21 oīclock!I love that!Even if many Finnish hate that hot,I love! 12 days anymore.. ;)

Hi there! You'll get off at Central Station. Bergamo has just one station, so can't get wrong. From train station you can reach the Duomo area (perfect city center) by subway (yellow line, number 3) just 4 stops and you'll be there! Don't be in rush for the market, it's open the whole day..

Thanks a lot!I allready have got a Bergamo-map,and knew that thereīs only one station, but didnīt know witch one itīs at Milan. Our hotel at Bergamo is close to station,so we can easily check out timetables, and deside should we go to Milan at morning or evening. We have two nights at both.
It was also good to know that market is open longer.Iīve udes to that, that if we go to market in Finland, you should get early there,or some people selling staff are leaving allready.I also remembered, that my sister told us to go to Porto portese early-but I can remeber that wrong. But thatīs another city then, after Milan.. ;)
