Yes, there is a bus from San Carlos. However it goes to Managua so you will have to change busses in Juigalpa or at the crossroads on the road from Managua to the coast. It is a seriously rough ride and definitely not comfortable. I did the journey from Managua to Rama then by boat to Bluefields and it took about seven hours (overnight into early morning on the river). So that is another option. If I had it to do all over again I think I would have paid the $70 to fly to Bluefields/Corn Islands and saved my knees and butt the tedious return journey. It makes for good stories though. Good luck - sorry I don't have any definite scheduling info on the San Carlos route but the Managua to Rama bus left at around 11:30 p.m. Buy your tickets early for that one though as it fills to the hilt and you will want an 'official' seat!
