| Cape Town | Guided tour of cape town / garden route Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 03:50 AM UTC
Am interested in visiting cape town in sept/oct.
have not been to cape town before so is looking for a good tour company I can join for a guided tour for 2 persons. Would like to visit - the usual places of interest in cape town 4-5 days - seals - penguin colony And drive tour of Garden route 4-5 days - cango caves - storms river mouth etc - whale watching in Hermanus Ending the trip with visit to Addo Elephant park I have 2-3 weeks to spare for idyllic tour though will have to be on budget was recommended to try Romer tours..anyone heard of it? But problem is that they need a group size of 4 to start a tour. Do u have any recommended tour operators for me n my husband? Do u have any to recommend? |

I'm not touting for trade here (even though we do offer this kind of service) but have you though about just doing it yourselves as a self drive?
Doing it on your own and hiring a car gives you the freedom of seeing things in your own time. I would say 4 days to see Cape Town (as it will give you time to take a day trip to the peninsular and boulders beach, stopping to see simonstown, etc.; visit Table Mountain and other sights) then you could do 2 days in the Winelands before heading to Hermanus to go whale watching (season June-Oct roughly). If you are going in South African winter this is not the best time to see the Garden Route as the cape receives frontal weather systems and it can get flooded in places, so really I would only suggest to do that in Nov onwards if you are wanting better weather (although the weather everywhere has become harder to predict nowadays) You can get a flight from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and then do your safari there (either at addo or another private reserve) To extend it you might want to think about Kwazulu Natal, where you can fly into Durban and then self drive up the coast (st Lucia will be stunning!) and then up through Swaziland and the panorama route (even into the Kruger if you have time) before you head back to Johannesburg and back home.

Drive yourself. Much cheaper and more flexible.

We used CapeCarol Travel when visiting the Western Cape. Had a wonderful time visiting Table Mountain, Boulders, Postberg Flower Trail, Langebaan etc. Stayed very comfortably at the Winelands Lodge. Carol, who has a wealth of local knowledge, also has accommodation at Paternoster and Knysna.
Google the name for email or telphone number.
