Beijing JinJiang Inns
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 02:58 AM UTC
We are going to the Olympics! Hooray! Just found out the Hotel has been changed. Boo!

We are now staying at the JinJiang Inn In Beijing. Should I be worried. All we really care is that it is clean. Has internet access and is close to restaurants. I can live without the last two, although I think I was able to find out that it has Internet. What can you all tell me about his place. Are we Okay? Is there anything I should worry about? Will I be able to find Cirrus and Plus ATMs near it?

Very envious about you getting tickets for the Olympic Games. Hope you have a great time, Darren.

Do you know anything about the Chain? Are we talking Best western or old Motel Six? I can handle a hard bed and little English. Sticky floors and moldy smells are another story. Although at this point I don't think there is anything we could do, beyond packing bleach.

Please understand. My concern is not with Beijing or China but with group trips where there is little control. Just trying to prepare.

Personaly no i don't. I have only been to Asia once & that was Turkey so hopefully someone else can shed some light on what the hotel chain is like. If you get no reply now check back later as people always look at the forum relevant to their own region when they come online, Darren.

hi thepatv

I live in China. I haven't stayed at Jin Jiang hotels but from what I know they are a very good budget choice. They are one of the major players in the new wave of motels for middle class Chinese travelers. These places tend to offer small and clean rooms with standardized amenities and good service for under $50, sometimes under $30 depending on the place. The Jin Jiang group is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, which is another measure of quality.

The staff may speak limited English, but the bed shouldn't be too hard, and the sheets will be clean, the room not moldy, etc.

Have a great time in Beijing

Thanks! I found general information on the Chain but no reviews. I guess Americans and Europeans don't often stay there. From your description it sounds good. The one we are staying in is at Yong Ding Men. Is that a good area? Will we be close to ATMs and restaurants?

Yong Ding Men is located at the south 2nd ring road of Beijing, but you konw, Olympic games stadiums is at north 4th or 5th ring road. so this one must be too faraway. I think at least you should choose one near the subway.

Jin Jiang Inn is a good chain hotel.

We will be attending the Gymnastic finals. I think they are at the University of Technology Gymnasium. Would that make our Hotel a better choice. It doesn't really matter. We can't change it. We are with a group. Whatever the situation we'll make do. We just want to know what to expect.
