I have stayed on Cable Beach but now I am visiting on a cruise. Can I just hop a jitney and spend the day at Cable Beach with my young grandchildren? We are arriving in December and just want some beach time with that beautiful clear Bahamas water. Or do wwe need to take a shore excursion? Thanks....Anne

Since you will be docking in downtown, your best bet is to take a taxi over the bridge to Paradise Island and take the public pathway next to the Riu Hotel onto Cabbage Beach. It's public and it's a much nicer beach than Cable Beach. Just ask the driver to leave you off to the left of the hotel and you will see the pathway.
