Saint Petersburg Skateboarding in Moscow and St Petersburg
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 12:06 AM UTC
I'm going to Moscow and St Petersburg in August with my two sons, ages 12 and 16. Can you recommend any places for skateboarding? Is it legal? How do the locals feel about skateboarding? Any and all help you can give me is really really appreciated!

It's absolutely legal:) Depending on what your children want. For general rides you can use either Luzhniki territory (metro Vorobjovi gori) (good pavement but absolutely even) or Park Pobedi (metro Park Pobedi) with different slopes. If they prefer extreme skating they use anything they find suitable. If you are interested I can look for places on Russian internet. I think they should have special territories as well.

1. Yes, the most popular place for skateboarding in Moscow is Park Pobedy (AKA Poklonnaya Gora or Lowbow Hill).

2. Also, if you prefer to go only downhill you can skate at Vorob'ev Hills near Moscow University, as there is a cable-way working all-year-long.

From sighting point one can go along boulevard Kosygina str. to Vorob'evskoe shosse and along Vorob'evskaya emb. back to the elevator. All way is pedestrian area.

Hi there, as far as I know its totally legal to skate (at least there aren't any restricted areas)... Most kids skate on the streets, but watch out for cars. I think one may skate even around Palace Square for all I know. Cheers, have good time in St. Pete.
