| Austria | Good place to stay in the mountains? Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 11:31 PM UTC
Hello
My partner and I are going to Austria for just over a week in August. We are arriving by train to Innsbruck. We'd like to go somewhere in the high mountains so we can really enjoy the views of the Alps. Can anyone recommend a good town to visit that is accessible by train? I want to see snow-capped mountains! While we are there we are spending a few days at a yoga school in Reith bei Kitzbühel so it would be good if the place we go to in the mountains to easy to get to by train from Reith bei Kitzbühel, but this isn't essential. Thanks |

I stayed in Kirchberg Tirol and enjoyed it very much, I stayed at Gasthof Alpina, a family run Guesthouse, and had half board (dinner, bed and beakast) at a very reasonable rate. The dinner was Table d,Hote so no choice, but delicious food. This town is also near Kitzbuehel. Many great walking paths there. Also a swimming lake, it,s a natural lake surrounded by lawns, there are toilets and showers there also. We hiked during the day then went swimming late afternoon each day, it was heaven on a stick.

Hi, i could recommend you Seefeld (www.seefeld.at) - it's a beautiful village on 1.200m. And i'm sure there will be rooms available in August. Though we already had snow in August some years ago, you won't see snow in Seefeld ;).
