| Malcesine | going to Malcesine.... Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 10:32 PM UTC
Hello. May I have 2 questions, related to traveling from Peschiera to Malcesine?
1.) Please advise from what place in Peschiera is going bus 62-64? I have located Bus schedule and there is mentioned Bus Stop Peschiera - Stazione F.S. Does it means railway station? I am coming from Milano by rail. 2.) How much is the bus ticket from Peschiera to Malcesine (cca)? Where can I buy this ticket? Many thanks. Marco |

As you suspect, "Peschiera - Stazione F.S." does indeed mean the railway station. The name of the national rail service is "Ferrovie dello Stato" or more commonly, "F.S.". You will also see the brand name of "Trenitalia"; this refers to the same national railway company, for your purposes.
So when you arrive from Milano, the APT bus stop will be nearby, and the information desk (if one in the station) or the guys in the ticket window (well, anybody that works at the station), will know where it is (there are probably a lot of buses together - you'll have to look for #62/64). I can't tell you the exact fare, but I see from the APT website that the fare from Verona to Malcesine is 4.80 euro, so, since this same bus passes through Peschiera after leaving Verona on the way to Malcesine, the fare is probably a little less than that. As for buying a ticket, it is highly likely that there is either a ticket window for the bus company either in the station or near the bus stop, or, tickets are sold by the newspaper kiosk in the station. It is also possible that the tickets are sold on the bus, but I would look in the station first, as tickets sold on buses tend to have an extra charge (if allowed at all). Look at VT member effeti (Francesco) page on Verona or Malcesine - he lives in Verona and often answers these questions and I belive has tips on his pages... Bill

Marco, bill was ... (no surprise) .. perfect! Even if writing from TX, he seems a local... and he "sort of" is!
You'll find the links to timetables under my transportation tips of Torri del Benaco. I can add, according to the ATV website, that there should be a tticket seller at the tobacco shop: Vaccari Mirella Tabaccheria 37019 Peschiera Del Garda (VR) - Via Venezia, 22 It should be right at the end (little more than 200 meters) of the little street of the station, but ask if someone sell bus tickects there, too. If you have the bus ready to leave, buy it on board (not worth waiting for an hour or so to spare the little extra fare): just ask for the ticket to the driver entering from the front door of the bus. Ciao! Francesco

Hi guys, many thanks for your perfect answers! Thank you.
Maybe I have one other question (about weather :-) ). Could you please advise what is the weather in Malcesine in summer? Is there hot enough to swimming in lake? I am worry about windy weather. Thanks.

Ahahah i swimm there every year! The water may not be toowarm (it is warmer to the south) but, believe me, there is a moment (between 11am and noon) when the northern "pelèr" of the morning stops, when you really dream about cold water!
And the afternoon "ora" is mild and brings the haze from the plans. No need to have the termal habits f a german tourist to swim! Of course, there was super hot summers (like 2003)... when to chat with friends in the sun you needed water up to you chest, and fresher one, with bathing desire reduced to the moments when the wind fell, but as average ... do not worry! Ciao Francesco
