We have looked on-line and determined that we could take a bus from Lisbon to Caldas da Rainha and then either a different bus or taxi to Obidos. The Rede Expressos site indicates on a Wednesday that buses are frequent and take about 70 minutes to Caldas da Rainha. Is the connecting bus on a frequent schedule during weekdays and how much does it cost? How much should a taxi be for the ride from Caldas da Rainha to Obidos? Are bus schedules likely to change for early October?

1. Yes, the majority of those buses work daily except those that say only "Sabados" or "Domingos" or even those which say "se feriado" (day off).

2. No idea.

3. I think they change it year by year, so until 31st Dec. you may be safe ;)

The local buses sometimes connect with the others at Caldas da Rainha, but they are very infrequent especially at weekends.

The website is entirely in Portuguse; search under 'Interurbanas' and enter origin then destination for times. It's only ten minutes journey, so my estimate is €2 or less for the fare.

A taxi should cost about 6€ each way (plus 0.80€ for phone call, 1.60€ with luggage, and 20% more in weekends). for short visits (until 20 minutes) you may ask the taxi to wait - 0.20€ each minute; For longer visits it's cheaper to call another taxi to return.
