Brisbane Traveling with child and red eyed tree frogs
Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 04:36 PM UTC
Hi, Have decided to bring my 10 year old with me on holiday in Feb. She really wants to see a red-eyed tree frog-emailed the zoo-they don't have any-
Anyone know where she can see one near Brisbane (this girl loves frogs!)
Also activities in Brisbane that a 10 year old would love?
Thanks again, Darla

Sounds as though she'd like to visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary - a boat trip to it along Brisbane River is the way to go. www.koala.net

And she's like to go up to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo too I should think. www.australiazoo.com.au

Two more places on the Gold Coast which may have the frogs - Currumbin Wildlife sanctuary and Fleahy's Wildlife Park - I am sure either would be able to help you with info.

Don't forget too, all the theme parks on the coast - only an hour from Brisbane and a busy day can be had: Seaworld, Dreamworld, Wet 'n Wild, Dreamworld.

In February, it will be really hot here, so a swim at the little beach in Southbank won't go astray. The Southbank parklands are really beautiful and it is an inexpensive way to entertain the littlies. A ride up and down the river on the City Cat is great as well. I think that the previous posters have covered the frog aspect very well.

When I was younger I used to visit Currumbin every year and me and my two younger brothers LOVED visitng the wildlife sanctuary there. Also, they have a honey factory there too which is really fun to go and do a little tour in. Also anything involving water, resort pools, beach, theme parks (Wet 'n' Wild) we loved too.

Have fun!

A visit to the Science Museum is always fun. I have taken school classes there, because it is a "hands on" experience there is as well, always heaps to learn!
