| Istanbul | Arriving by coach Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 02:05 PM UTC
We are travelling from Mamaris to Istanbul by Public Coach. We are unsure where it will sop in Istanbul eventually. Help and information is needed for the following bizarre points
1. How do we get to Sultanamet(Blue mosque) from the Otgar station? 2. How much are we expected to pay? 3. Directions possible - if we decide to loose a few pounds - weight wise and how long will it take. Upon our return I will create a page to share my experiences .... |

Every intercity coach have shuttle services to the important centers of Istanbul such as Taksim, Kadikoy, Aksaray, Sultanahmet ect. On the bus the host asks you where you will like to get out. You just say your end station. They will put you in the shuttle that goes to that center. I am sure you will have your luggages with you. For that reason go to your hotel first.
Here is some Turkish for you: Shuttle: servis Just write on a paper: "....'ya gitmek istiyorum. Hangi servise binecegim? (I want to go to .... Which shuttle should I take?)

You can take the subway from Otogar. The last station of that will be Aksaray where you can use another tram line. There is a tram station in Sultanahmet. So it is simple like that. Take the subway from Otogar & get off at the last station (Aksaray). Then walk like 5 minutes to the tram station(yusufpasa). Get off at Sultanahmet station.
So travelling from Otogar to Sultanahmet will take 25-30 minutes and it will cost about 2-3 dollars. Another option would be using the shuttles as mentioned by the other guys

HI, I have heard there is an electronic ticket you can buy in Istanbul. I will be there for 3 days, and want to travel around the city, and also get ferries across the Bosphorus. Is it worth getting this ticket?. Thankyou in advance.
