Hello dear Residents of Nijmegen,

I would like to have your opinion about the following:

What do you think about organizing a VT meeting during the 4-daagse.(Nijmegen March) Third week of July? I think this is the perfect event to show other VT user our city. Because of the wide range of activities, there is something to do and enjoy for everyone.

Well please let me know if you have any ideas about this!

I was thinking of organising a meeting in Nijmegen with Syllou. And yes the 4-day would be the perfect time for a meeting. But we wanted to do it a bit sooner, cause it's so far away. So we chose carneval as a possible option in february. And you are hereby invited !!! :) :)

But as you said the 4-day is the perfect time for a meeting. The city is packed with activities, music etc.

It is a very cool idea.. But for people coming for a biot further away.. you might warn them about difficulties of finding acc. those days.. I still want to walk it one day.. but am fairly sure next year want be the year i'm joining in..

I’m glad to see I don’t live in a dead end sleepy town ( : You are right, if you say the marches are very far away! Therefore, I love to join your meeting during carnival! Give me a date and place and I will be their ( : If it’s going to be a success we can plan a meeting during the 4 daagse / zomerfeesten.

Well about walking…. I have the same problem! I really would like to walk this 40 km coming summer. But maybe we can have the meeting before the marches. The thing is the Summer festival (zomerfeesten) are taking place all week long, not only during the four days march! So I think it is possible to combine ( :

About this accommodation problem, I’m breaking my head now! Because it’s impossible to arrange normal accommodation such as Hotels and so on. However, I think we might find a solution for that. (We can hire some scouting accommodation blokhut?…. For instance) I can not use my connections in hotel industry for this purpose… because already at this moment there is no hotel accommodation available for that period ) :

I wouldn't start to look for such big accomodation yet. I mean you never know how many people are coming. But as you said maybe the meeting can take place on oine of the days that does have the festivities, but nor the actual 4-day march. Maybe then it will be easier to book a hotel. Or you could advise people to stay in a neighbouring city. And if there are enough people coming, then you can always think of a big hall to rent.

By the way I was at the festivities last year, and I loved it. So much to do, in such a big city.

Haven't been at the festivities for years.. and probably won't be either for teh next couple of years.. But i suggest that if you wantto have a VT-get-together around that time that you try to accomodate everybody at VT-people's places.. Even around Nijmegen everything is fully booked. Although i have heard that if you're lucky and with just 2 you are able to secure a tent-space next to the toilets several weeks in advance.. :-)

I will be at this 4 Day event as part of the Canadian Military Marching team (Ottawa). We are always looking to meet people at this event (young, old, men, women) and exhange "stories' and "adventures". With so many people it would be impossible to meet, but good luck with your VT meeting. The Canadians are staying at Camp Heumensoord (5 kms from the Town Centre) and we will be carrying the Canada flags !!
