The airlines do not set the regulations for what can and cannot be carried on the flights. The airports and air safety administrations do.
Toothbrush, food, camera and handphone will be no problem. The toothpaste, water, body wash, shampoo must follow typical requirements for airport security regarding volume and packaging. Bring small, travel size toiletries. Also, buy the water after you pass through security. Of bring an empty bottle and fill it in a drinking fountain after you pass through security.

No creams, liquids or sprays unless they are in containers and can not be more than 100ml per container , the containers must fit into a clear zip lock baggie, the size of the baggie can be no larger than 17.7cm x 19.6cm

Mineral water and snacks those mentioned by you(even though you may not consume during the flight)will not be allowed in the flight as per Air Asia's terms and conditions on hand baggage. This is because they SELL these items on board. If you are lucky to get thru , then its fine.
Toileteries in reasonable quantity for personal usage are to be kept in a "see thru pouch" and can be carried in hand baggage. Digital Camera and hand phone absolutely no problem.

Hi!
Digital camera & handphone are fine but handphoe should be swithced off all the time - before you board the flight until you reach the arrival hall at your destination. Food items and liquid/paste (tooth paste, mineral water etc) can be hand carry, subject to the maximum amount allowed by AirAsia. Take note that the restrictions on hand carry liquid/paste is only applicable for international flights - you can still carry those items with you for your flight from penang to KL. -m-

Hi all,
First and foremost, thank you very much for your helpful replies. This is going to be my first flight in 5 years, and as I've heard that there are new rulings about hand luggage on flight, your answers are really, really helpful as I can't seem to find the specific details pertaining to this matter on the AirAsia website. I have finalised my list of personal belongings inside my hand luggage on the flight. Please let me know whether there is anything here which is restricted (apart from my clothes, belt, wallet, money and keys):- 1. toothbrush and toothpaste (regular size tube), teeth floss 2. face wash (150 ml), face wash scrub type (50 g), body wash (50 ml), shampoo (125 ml) 3. empty plastic water bottle (can contain around 500 ml) 4. a pair of slippers 5. about 25 sheets of printed paper (my travel plans, airasia booking etc.) 6. a pen drive (2 Gb) Finally, I've paid RM0.18 for "Skybus Service" when I booked my AirAsia flight. Does this mean that I have already paid for my Skybus seat from LCCT to KL Sentral vice versa? Thanks again. Warm regards, travelearner

All the items that you mentioned are fine and can be carried in your hand bag.
The Skybus service fee that you paid is not the charges towards commuting between LCC-KLSentral, i think. The charges are RM8 being charged by one company and Rm9 by another. It is easy to buy these bus tickets as soon as you land.

Thanks all for your replies. I just want to clarify that the liquid items ruling of 100ml per item is only meant for international flights.

As I mentioned above, the restriction is not applicable to domestic flights. In fact, I just return to KL from Kuching today without any problem with the airport authority eventhough my hand carry luggage contains my toileteries (shampoo, shaving cream, toothpaste etc) and 2 bottles of mineral water.

Domestic and international securities can be held to the same requirements. It depends if the airport terminals and their respective security checks give access to "both" international and domestic gates.
If domestic and international gates are accessed through separate security screening, then the luggage requirements may be enforced by applicable standards at each.
