Cost of telephone international cards

I go to the USA (Chicago ---> Alaska----> Seattle: I can't wait wow!) in July and August and I need to buy telephone card for domestic and international (to Canada and Poland) landline calls (for 2-3 hours in total).
How much is it about? Where to purchase it not to overpay? Any weblinks?

Are the same cards valid for 48 lower states AND for Alaska or should I purchase seperate card for Alaska?
