| Dubai | Arabic Classes in Dubai? Posted: Sat July 5, 2008 02:04 PM UTC
I'm going to be in Dubai for 6 months and would like to take some Arabic classes during that time. Can anyone recommend some good places that offer language instruction (either small classes or one-on-one)? I will be working during the day so it would have to be a place that offers evening or wknd classes.
Alternatively, if anyone has any recommendations for more informal study, I would be interested in hearing about that as well. For example, has anyone heard of people doing language exchanges here? If so, are there any community boards or other places where I might post an ad or look into this? Thanks! |

Hi from Dubai,
My personal opinion would be, not to go for any special language class it would just be a waste of money. You can buy some basic books of Arabic speaking which translates in English. If you are staying for 6 months then you will automatically learn little Arabic or you will come across people who speak Arabic. Mostly people of Dubai speaks English even local Arabs speaks English. Wish you best of luck Hamed

Thanks for all the suggestions - I will check these out. I realize Dubai probably isn't the best place to learn Arabic, but I'm hoping I'll have at least some opportunities to practice while I'm out here!
