Need 5 month rental in Quito Posted: Fri July 4, 2008 08:34 PM UTC
I am living here from beginning of January 2009 to end of May 2009 and need a suitable furnished place to rent for the entire time. I am not looking to share or to rent a room or to stay with a host family. I would prefer to be in a safe, fun area that is walking distance to amenities like grocery stores and public transportation. Hot water, local telephone, tv and access to internet would be great add-ons. Anyone have any recommendations on companies/people to deal with? I don't want to get ripped off but I would like a comfortable and safe place (no cockroaches please! I did it in Costa Rica but willing to spend extra to have a better place this time around). Thanks!

I'll give the VTmember a hand. First of all I'm brazilian and never been in Ecuador. The reason why I am sending these below links is you had not any answers yet. So, be caution in renting some place through the links since I am not ecuatorian...

Any one else with firsthand knowledge of living in Quito with info to provide me? I have already done a bit internet search so I was hoping someone might have personal referrals to hand over.

You are right that Guapulo and Gonzales Sauarez are the best areas -it will be difficult to get something on a budget in these areas. My suggestion is to book a short stay apartment for 2-3 weeks and search the ads in El Commercio for a longer let.
Remember you will be expected to pay a months rent as deposit on top of the first months payment.
There are a number of sites offering short stay apartments -just search Google for "short stay apartment quito"

There is a place where they rent usually two rooms in a very nice apartment, full furnished with internet wireless and private bathroom, near to all common services, near Carolina Park in Quito.
Check it out here:
