| Malaysia | Regarding public transportation from KL Heritage Station Hotel to shopping complexes... Posted: Fri July 4, 2008 03:26 PM UTC
Dear VT friends,
I will be going down to KL next week, and have booked a 2 night stay at the Kuala Lumpur Heritage Station Hotel located at the old railway staion at Jalan Hishamuddin. I have not been to KL for 20 years and I don't have much travel experience, and since I will be travelling alone and on a rather tight budget, I'm in a bit of a panicky state. I have several questions about travelling from KL Heritage Station Hotel to the shopping complex and sightseeing areas:- 1(a) What forms of transportation are available from KL Heritage Station Hotel to Bukit Bintang, KLCC, Midvalley, Bangsar Baru? (b) How long does it take for me to get to the nearest of these destinations? (c) How much does respective modes of public transportation costs? (d) Will I be able to cover these destinations in a single day? 2. Do I require a map to navigate my way around KL town? 3. How much time does it take for me to arrive at KL Heritage Station Hotel from LCCT vice versa? Thank you so very much in advance! travelearner. |

hello there travelearner, im a 23 y.old malaysian, living in, n familiar with kl/selangor area. I must first congratulate you on choosing a very good hotel, very strategically located.
1(a)- there are buses and trains (best choice my opinion) to go to Bukit Bintang(BB) KLCC MidValley n Bangsar baru. i suggest taking the komuter, LRT and monorail, all of which are interconnected and easily accessible from ur hotel. Komuter Train – servicing Seremban to Rawang (Also 1 stops from the hotel to Midvalley Megamall) Rapid KL (bus system) and LRT Putra Line (train) – Behind the Railway Station, Pasar Seni Station – linking you to Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC. b) depending on the mode of transport. LRT to KLCC from Pasar Seni Station (nearest to u, 10 mins walk) is about 20 mins. Midvalley by komuter (from ur railway station) is about one stop away ie 15 mins. bukit bintang, using monorail (from KL Sentral) about 45 mins. c) personally, its quite affordable, cheap. around rm2 to 5 per way.there are day passes. d) yes u can, but itll be quite a rush. those places are big. 2. a free map can be obtained from the tourist information office near klcc or in ur train station. if not, theres map is every newspaper stand around KL. i suggest u buy it only if ure lost. (well, thats my policy). or print it black n white from the internet. 3. from lcct u can take a direct bus (operated by airasia) for about rm9.90 (correct me if im wrong about the price) to KL sentral. from there u can either take a taxi or take the komuter train(my choice) to the old railway station. hope this helps. trust me, u wont have any problem going around from where ure based. the hotel staffs will help u w any enquiries. contact me if u need someone to show u around. kind regards Z,

Hi medicstudent and VT members,
Medicstudent, thank your helpful reply. Since Skybus only travels to KL Sentral, what mode of transport would be the best choice for me to get to the KL Station Heritage Hotel at Jalan Hishamuddin? Will Rapid KL travel all the way from KL Sentral to my destination for RM2 (24-hour-travel-all-you-want-around-KL ticket)? I've browsed through the Rapid KL website but don't understand the route maps. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Hi.
The available mode of transports are taxis and railway KTM Komuter. Taxis are the obvious choice IF u travel with big/huge luggages, but the best choice for a light traveler is KTM komuter. Taxis are more expensive. I personally would go with KTM Komuter from Kl Sentral to Kuala Lumpur (the name of ur station), and itll only cost u RM1.00 perway. Use KTM komuter Line A,heading to Sentul(its last stop) or Line B(heading to Rawang), Both will stop at ur station. ur station is the next stop after kl sentral. Ive looked at the rapidkl bus map, based on it there are no rapidkl buses going along Jalan Sultan Hishamudin. but i do recall seeing buses going and stopping near/behind the KLrailway station (near ur hotel)- though i might be mistaken. What i suggest is, go to the hotel by komuter from kl sentral.check in and then u can ask the reception for information regarding the bus system/nearest bus stop. they'll be glad to help. ask for a map while ure at it, they might have a free one :-) and id be terribly surprised if there isnt any bus stop near u. The rapidkl bus system can be complicated at times, but if in doubt, ask around. I myself would prefer using LRT or monorail or komuter than buses, as it is not influenced by traffic jams.. hope this helps. you'll be alright. have fun. Izad.

Thanks for your helpful reply. As my flight was delayed and I arrived late, knowing which komuter to take was crucial. I did have a good time in KL.
