:) hello eric, imho, CMT lechon is delicious. they have an outlet in SM Cebu (near the grocery). Also try Chika-an sa Cebu for delicious local dishes (located at the 2/F SM).

Wow, I've heard of the popularity of Cebu's Lechon. Sadly, I haven't tried it. :-(

Hmmm, how about Shamrock for your Otap?

Go to Fuente Osmeņa Circle and walk around the shops there. You can find a lot of pasalubongs there. As you know, Fuente Osmeņa is also a good location for Photo ops. ;D

You've got some delicious grub planned ahead! :-) Here are my answers to your queries:

1. Buy danggit sold in Carbon Market
2. Cebu's famous lechon is ubiquitously found all over the city, try any of the vendors around Mango Avenue or Fuente Osmena
3. For the best Otap, we almost always bought from Shamrocks. Others buy theirs at Titay's.

The pochero sounds great!

Another idea will be to find a local vendor specializing in "calderetang kanding" or goat stew. My dad almost always got it at some off-the-beaten location somewhere in the city. Alternatively, you can find it at some of Cebu's finest restaurants serving local cuisine (e.g., Chika-an, etc.).

Goodluck & enjoy beautiful Cebu!

BTW, eric if you can work it why not continue on to iloilo? it is only 35 min. from cebu if you fly.

foodies will have fun in iloilo. seafood is fresh and cheap. the fruits in the market are also cheap. there are some fruits and vegetables i've seen for the first time that locals use in their dishes.

Oh ok! :) Iloilo may just become one of my favorite places too!
I can't remember what they call that little fruit they put on soups to make it sour? it's not guava nor kamias. but it was a weird little fruit. :)

its batwan!

i can still remember when i was still living in bacolod. we have the batwan tree and we just literally take it for granted because theres just so many fruit, more than what we really need.

when i moved to manila, i was so shocked that a kilo of batwan costs a fortune. hahaha

i miss the Chicken Binakol in Iloilo. unfortunately no more sched trips for me to iloilo this 2008.
