| Tokyo | Travelling in Japan during Golden Week - how bad is it? Posted: Fri July 4, 2008 05:20 AM UTC
Hello,
I just discovered that the two weeks my friend and I are planning to be in Japan next spring (April 18 - May 3, 2009) overlap part of Golden Week (April 29 - May 5). Would staying put in Tokyo during that period make things easier (since I assume people are leaving the city and going to the countryside)? Does all accommodation become more expensive at that time, or just the big hotels? Can we still have a good time or will every attraction and public transport be packed? What if we're just visiting around Tokyo? I haven't booked any plane ticket yet but want to do it soon because I'll be flying on reward miles. I'm planning to fly back to Canada on May 3. Thanks. |

Thanks Keti. I will definitely see other places than Tokyo. I just meant spending the period April 29 - May 3 in Tokyo (since I'm leaving from there anyways) so I'm not using trains or changing accommodation during Golden Week. :-)
