Tap water in the city is safe to drink but it’s desalinated so it tastes sort of strange, cooking and stuff is fine but you’ll probably want to drink bottled water

I have been in various seminars when specialists in the field of civilian water consumption has announced that Dubai water (in the pipes) is safe for drinking!! For sure for cooking is good. Very often I drink water from my boiler after the water is cooled down.

Yes it's safe, it's pure desalinated water.

Amir, Colin:
yes, the water is safe but I would be worried about the pipes and water "Tanks" that water is stored in in most houses / apartment buildings. Quite often, water tanks are not cleaned often enough... and as the others have said: it has a funny taste, so for cooking it's fine, but for drinking I'd say bottled water is better.

Somehow you are right Jess, However a colled previously boiled water should be fine!

Actually Jess, that's the same as in countries where tap water is said to be safe - like UK/Europe where the pipes are often a hundred years or more old!
