| Lauterbrunnen | anything other to do? Posted: Thu July 3, 2008 03:41 PM UTC
hey guys!
I've been in Jungfraujoch already 2 times, but the problem is , that I'm buying a package holiday trip from a travel agency, so the time is all planned, and even if I dont' want to go up, to the top, I need to spend somehow around 6 hours by myself. LAst time I tried to spend these hours somehow interesting ( as you see, near Jungfraujoch I've already been 3 times; gone to top = 2 times), but my effort was worthless. I wanted to visit Mystery park, but they told me it's closed. I went to Interlaken, Wilderswil ( if I spelled it good); maybe someone has got any suggestions of any nice places other to visit and intersting ( like MYstery park) , or some nature nice things, to walk, or wander? |

ballenburg museum, I won't hide, is not very intersting to me, cause one like this I've got in my country, which I've also visited several times, and several moments ago I've googled - it's so similar to my country one :(

Hi Dei,
I'm not sure whether you have been up other mountains in the area. One poster suggested Murren which will be good and you go up Schilthorn - Piz Gloria. Its got a revolving restaurant and great views. Cable car up can be a bit expensive though. Next there is the cog railway trip to Schynige Platte which also has great views of Jungfrau, Eiger et al. There is also an Alpine garden up there to visit. Also the other side there is the trip to Harder Kulm and is one of the cheaper options for views. There is an wildlife park there too. What about The St. Beatus Caves, around Thun. They are a prehistoric settlement and also the cell of Saint Beatus. You can visit 1 km of lighted stalactite caves. Lots of villages have guided walks so check it all out by visiting the local tourist office. Good luck, John

Take the funicular from Lauternrunnen up and walk along lovely flat path into Murren. From there many hiking possibilities - the North face trail is beautiful and has some of the best views of the mountains - boards along the route give info about the peaks , when they were first climbed etc... Can also walk into Gimmelwald from Murren and take gondola up to Schilthorn
Train up to Wengen from Lauterbrunnen, and gondola up to Mannlichen - walk from here to Kleine Scheidegg is one of my all time favoutite short hikes - feels like you can almost touch the mountains. Grindelwald has even more options - gondolas up and hikes for close up views of the glaciers - even an ice bear up there to quench your first - lots of pics on my pages for these
