Afraid I cannot be too specific, maybe someone else can, but I recall Madeira as not very cheap.
Stuck out in the middle of the Atlantic as it is most stuff seems to be transported from the mainland, that is Portugal. For this reason there is an added cost to everything. The restaurants had lots of lovely fish, no surprise again remembering the situation, but all expenses are more than say mainland Portugal or Spain.

I went to Madera last summer; the average cost are a bit higher in comparison with the rest of Portugal but still cheaper than the average middle European cities. I have wrote many tips about Madeira you can read; anyway feel free to contact me for further questions. I've loved it a lot :-)

Hi there, the cost for a meal for 2 for supper is around 30euros (not at the larny resturants but very nice tourist cafes) and lunch around 10 euros. The more fancy you want to dine, the more you will pay. Toiletries is very expensive in Madeira, so if you can bring that along with you, it will safe you a lot. Bread and milk is not so expensive, a nice fresh bakery bread is around 1 euro and 1 liter milk in a supermarket around 70c. September is also a very nice time to visit here because the summer is still in the air and the beaches is still full.
I hope that this helped you and if you need any more advise, you can email me on wilmafmended@gmail.com Good luck with your trip. Wilma
