But this only happens in FF. I click on "Close" or the "X" and nothing happens. I can log in and work on the site OK otherwise.

I have FF 2.0.0.15 if that's relevant.

Do you the Adblock Plus add-in installed? If not, is it because you like pop-ups and don't want to block them?

If not, maybe install the Adblock Plus add-in - it stops all of those things and I don't have any problems - not even seen the pop-up.

It's not a pop up...it's a little layer over the page about VT's deals newsletter. You only see it once a day, and you don't see it if you are a logged in VT member. logging in will make it go away immediately.

But I'm concerned if you say clicking the 'close' button doesn't work. I am on Firefox too. I will check it....

I have Adblock and since it's not a pop up, I haven't been able to disable it. The "Close" function doesn't work at home but it works at work. I have the same FF version with the same addons.

I have even deleted all the adblockable items and started over. LOL it might be that until I enter my e-mail addy it won't go away.

you should only see it once per day at most anyway, and only on the front page or the deals section....hmm...strange...there must be something on your other browser that is making things not work...

I bet you have a javascript error on the one that doesn't work. Try looking in the bottom status bar (bottom left of your browser)you'll see a yellow triangle showing an error.

Aha! I never logout and am always logged in automatically from my PCs - no 'layer' for me!

FF doesn't show any JS errors or warning triangles.

I'll empty the adblock and see what happens.

Just wanted to say that the problem got solved once I updated to FF 3. Now I can close the sign-up-for-VT's-newsletter window.
