| Bangkok | A reasonably good hotel location for a conference Posted: Thu July 3, 2008 08:46 AM UTC
I am researching some hotels that could provide conference facilities as I plan to hold an event sometime this year. Any recommendation? My budget for one guest room is between 2,800 and 3,500 bahts (between US$ 85-110). I have some quotes from Novotel Siam Square, Siam City Hotel, Montien Hotel, Ambassador and Imperial's Queen Park in Bangkok.
Any comments on these hotels? I really appreciate your comments. |

If you are looking for discount hotels in your place then you must search on http://www.disrooms.com, you will find many hotels with discounted rates with reviews. Best of luck Tina hope

If your budget is in the range of U.S.$85.00, we recently booked via internet at the Dusit Hotel which is right and corner of SUKHUMVIT (very central and three minutes walk to the skytrain and metro train and all public transportation). Then there is the large department store called Robinsons ajacent to Dusit Hotel... While we were there IBM had an international conference food/breakfast and lunch was included which did not cost as much as U.S.$85.00, so if that' s your budget, hotel accommodation, breakfast and lunch, then chances are your menu would be exceptionally special selection of food to be served.
I would advise you to avoid Ambassador, someone whom we met and had joined us touring in a group, mentioned that the bedrooms they had smelled liked terrible and even if it was a non smoking room, it was not recommendable, also the distance to the skytrain was nearly three big blocks, so, skip that Hotel. Siam City Hotel is alright, but again the bedrooms are fairly much smaller and quite narrow. Whenever we travel our priority is finding a hotel that is not decent in price, clean, centrally located and a hotel we could recommend it to family and friends....Have a great time in Bangkok, we really had a ball in Bangkok, but remember humidity is so much higher than most Asian countries so, bring light clothes only, and have a ball and enjoy their sweetest mangos you will ever taste, and all their fruits, they are all super sweet like their grounds are made of 'HONEY'. :) Cheers to all!

We stayed at the Siam City Hotel and loved it.
Although surrounding area was undergoing some construction at the time, the hotel itself was quiet, very nice for the price and incredible service. Best of all, you cross the street and you're on the BTS which is only two stops away from the MBK and other major shopping places in Bangkok. Additionally, it is within walking distance to the day market. Finally, the food at this hotel was good, really good. We booked via Asiarooms.com: http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/siam_city.html

I have stayed at the Novotol Siam Square a couple of times and have enjoyed my stay. It is in a good central location near restaurants, shopping, the sky train, and currency exchange places. The hotel roof top pool is decent. The hotel has a popular night club and the Hard Rock Cafe is within walking distance. Good luck with your conference. -Gary

Reading the post again might be a good idea for some.
I think the cheapest hotel in a central area is Novotel Lotus or maybe Rembrandt. All hotels have conference rooms. Lotus is good for post conference activities also with lots of bars in the soi.

See if this link helps any.
http://bangkok.hotelguide.net/hl1cc.htm It is a link to Convention Center Hotels. My preference would be for hotel near a Skytrain stop. The Skytrain can take you around town quick and easy. Skytrain route. http://bangkok.sawadee.com/skytrain.htm Good luck.

Hi, Thanks for the great tips and really appreciate everyone's feedback. Novotel Siam Square had given me some good rates. heard the Westin Hotel is good but could be much pricier. Maybe I'll try Landmark Hotel. If not, probably Siam City or Novotel.
Thanks again.

Hola Julie Wong,
Lots of good luck on your great selection of allocating the best beader for your work conference in Bangkok. You may be correct about Dusit charging more than the prospect you may have as what we saw was those fortune 500 hundred companies who were having their conferences at Dusit...okay, have a great time out there! Cheers!
