Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Venice Poveglia
Posted: Thu July 3, 2008 04:50 AM UTC
I will be visiting Venice--3rd time!--in a few months. I know that tourists are not allowed to go to Poveglia; but I am wondering, if, on the way to the Lido, the vaporettos pass close enough past Poveglia to take photos?
I had wanted to do the ghost walk, but it is offered only on Saturday, and I will be leaving then. Can anyone tell me what places in Venice are thought to be haunted so I can visit them on my own?

When will you be visiting? You might wish to look at the following web site: www.tours-italy.com/venice-city_tours-ghost_walk.htm. They have Monday and Wednesday night tours as well as Saturday tours. I believe the last Monday night tour is shown as October 6th. The last Wednesday night tour is shown as November 5th. Gary

I fear you don't have any chances to pass along Poveglia. All the lines to lido go directly to the NE side of the island.

The island is along the channel that goes down to Chioggia, but i don't know if there is a water line going directly there. if i remember well routes to chioggia include a bus leg along Lido and Pellestrina.

Ciao
Francesco

I will miss all of those options for the ghost walk; my cruise leaves Venice at 4pm on 11/22, and I only have Thurs. eve and all day Friday in Venice.
I am hoping to go to San Michele.

So. they REALLY make sure no tourists can see the island. It looks like a very very interesting place. I will just try to do the Secret Itineraries tour at the Doges, and try to find some maps showing locations of "haunted" places

What places were you wanting to be haunted ? The Veneto has many unemployed ghosts available for hire (LOL)

Thanks for all the interesting replies; I don't want my hotel room to be haunted, but I really like standing on the bridges idea, so see if some passing ghost happens by!
