Hello,
I'm looking to rent a small economic car for one day to drive out to Salzburg from Vienna. Everything seems to be either expensive or schedule restricted.
Can anyone recommend a place to rent a car for a good price?

in case that you want to rent a car just in order to get to Salzburg, the train is the better solution !

The same idea occurred to me. If you just want a car to go to Salzburg, train is a viable alternative.

Takes 2+ hours. Frequent trains, the 07:40 will get you there for 10:28, standard fare 44.20 euro.

Hiring a car would be cheaper if there's more than one of you, I suspect, but you have to add the cost of petrol/parking/tolls(?).

And the gasoline isn't getting any cheaper, I'm afraid :/ In the end it might be just as expensive or cheap to rent a car and to go by train.

You should try to be in Salzburg very early in order to find a spot to park.The parking garages fill up quickly. There is no free parking unless you park outside and take public transportation to get into the town centre.

I would also recommend the train.
