| Vancouver | Transportation to downtown from ferry at Tsawwassen Posted: Wed July 2, 2008 11:06 PM UTC
Hi,
Great site! This summer 4 in our family will fly into Seattle and plan to take ferries to Victoria and then on to Vancouver. What is the best way to get to the ferry directly from the airport? (We'll each have a suitcase). I found info about public transportation in Victoria, but am having trouble finding info for Vancouver. In Vancouver we need to get from the ferry at Tsawwassen, to our downtown hotel. The bus requires a couple transfers so that's out. Is there a sea bus to downtown? How much would a taxi cost and are they readily available? Thanks for any help. Grandma and kids |

Have you looked at Pacific Coach Lines? We are doin a day trip to Victoria from Vancouver. Pacific can organise the whole lot or just part of it. Originally we planned to go from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria and back with Pacific. Now we are just doing the return portion as we are taking a floatplane from YVR to Victoria. Cheers Col & Sue

we take taxis often from tsawwassen to vancouver airport.it's about 55 buck's it's less to downtown , there is minivans at the terminal if not just ask one of the taxis to order you one.the city bus system is not friendly to luggage.

Take the ferry from Victoria to Tsawwassen. Board the #620 which departs on the hour and half hour to Ladner Exchange, transfer to the #601 Vancouver, a direct connection, it is a limited stop express and will have you downtown in less than 40 minutes. Do not take the 640 to Airport station, it will take you longer and the bus that you would transfer to the 99B Line will be very crowded.

One error I had said in my relpy above to you do not take the 640 to Airport station, that should read, do not take the 620 to airport station.

I offer you a suggestion, one that solves your transportation problem, but also will give you an unforgetable experience. Take the sea plane from downtown Victoria to downtown Vancouver.
http://www.harbour-air.com/ You are already taking a ferry from Seattle to Victoria, so a second ferry trip won't offer anything new. If you calculate the costs and time involved for 4 people on the ferry versus a float plane, you should seriously consider it. The float plane terminal is right in downtown vancouver so depending on which hotel you are staying at you may be even be able to walk to it, or at the very least a short cab ride (ALMOST door to door service).
