Yep – and a heck of a lot cheaper than you get gouged for at home! Buy extra and feed your friends ;) Wish I had stocked up more before I came home!

Absolutely true. Not only in Lima but even in remote Andean towns you will find tons of well stocked pharmacies. I have never seen so many pharmacies/chemists in my life.
You usually do not buy a box of something but a certain number of tablets, even for aspirin! Even in Huancavelica, in the middle of nowhere, you could find all sorts of antibiotics & buy over the counter.

Make sure you do not take the Diamox if you are sensitive to sulfa. Also a single aspirin accompanied by a single antacid (such as a Rolaids tablet) can do wonders for altitiude sickness. The locals drink tons of Mate de Coca tea and many hotels will have it available in the lobby.
