Hi,

I know it is a strange question but does anyone know if there are many stray dogs in Fiji?

Thanks

I have never been to Fiji but apparently there are concerns there about stray animals.

We have encountered this situation in Spain. Apart from the non-stop barking and howling ( most of the poor creatures were abandoned and starving) as they were running wild there were concerns that they would be feral, carry diseases and breed - further increasing their numbers. It was the same situation with abandoned cats.

footstool - if you mean re accommodation sorry can't help - we always stayed with my cousin.
Probably best to post a Q on Madrid Forum mentioning dates/budget etc.

My relatives live a mile or two out of the city centre off Avenida de America, the ring road, and one of my worst driving experiences anywhere!

I don't recall seeing any when we were in Fiji. We were also staying at a resort so my exposure was limited.

Now India - that's a scary place for stray dogs. And monkeys.

One of the resorts we stayed in had village dogs wandering in now and then, but they seemed harmless and got chased off pretty quickly by staff anyway. Why the question?

Thanks for all of your replies. Why that question? Well, my boyfriend is scared of dogs as he was bitten when he was young. If there are stray dogs, I know that it would spoil the holiday.

I know how he feels! My son was bitten in Malaysia when he was only 2. Scary enough to have a dog bite in your own country, but when you are dealing with unfamiliar medical systems it is worse! I'm sure he'll be fine in Fiji though, so have a great trip! Wish I was back there...it's freezing here!
