I'm planing a trip to Ankor Wat around November for about two weeks. I can not decide on a good itinerary as I should visit relatives in Chang Mai as well. Any recommendations?
Thanks for your help!

With only 2 weeks, and a lot of ground to cover, I would definitely advise short flights with Air Asia. They have some crazy cheap tickets. You will need a day to travel to Phenom Phen (spelling?), and then at least a few hours (3-5)in bus or shared taxi to get to Siem Reap. Most flights go into Phenom Phen, or at least, at the time, the flights were half the cost. I don't know if Air Asia goes directly to Siem Reap now.
I think 2 days in and around the temples was enough, but many people take at least 3 days. We loved getting a tuk-tuk with a driver/guide for the visits. We had as much freedom to explore as we wanted, and you can plan your visits around the tour groups. For example, the tour groups all leave the temples mid-day due to lunch and the heat. That gives you at least 3 hours of free roaming. Many of the temples are shaded, so the heat isn't that big of an issue.
Back to Thailand, if you are going to Chaing Mai, you should visit Mai Hong Song (sorry for all the incorrect spelling), long bus ride, or short, cheap flight. As for the rest of your time, do you want to spend any time at the beach? Bangkok?

Thanks for your comments! We were not sure if we had enough time to hit the beaches somewhere (always welcome) However we thought it is maybe to much flying around for two weeks....

Just remember that flying around isn't (usually) an all day ordeal. There are many small airports with shuttles waiting to shoot you off the moment you land. For example, in Cambodia, you can go directly to Siem Reap from the airport, or find a bus or shared taxi from town and be there the same day. Then, you would miss the museums/killing fields/prison in Phenom Pehn which are very interesting (one day possible). In Thailand, you can find an Air Asia flight that can have you across the country in an hour, and at the beach a few hours later.

Chiang Mai to Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap via Air Asia, but this necessitates an overnight stay in KL as the flight to SRP leaves very early.
chiang mai to bkk to phnom penh on air asia thailand.

two weeks you could enjoy chiang mai as well as siem reap. perhaps even one day as suggested in phnom penh.

It is foolish to come all the way to siem reap and spend only a day at the temple. this is the largest archeological temple complex in the world and it requires time as it is spread over a very very large area.
