Capri Chairlifts to AnaCapri
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 11:03 PM UTC
We will be returning to Capri next week. Last there 16 yrs ago! We now have children age 8 & 10. Looking at our old videos it appears that the chairlifts could accomodate just 1 passenger. Is this true now? Are small children allowed on with a parent? Are they allowed alone? (Seems kinda dangerous to me). Alternatives? - taxis? Cost?

Thanks for helping.

You are going to Capri? Dang, I envy you.
Instead of the Funicolare, you could simply take the bus from Marina Grande to Anacapri (~ EUR 2).

Hi!

Yes - I was there summer of 2006 and the chair lifts still only accomodate one person. Maybe two if one is very teeny...I did recall seeing children alone on them. But that chair lift ride was one of my fondest memories of my two-week trip through the Mediterranean...

Enjoy!

I'm not sure how you feel about walking, but there is a path that goes up to the top where the chairlift ends. I'd recommend taking the bus from Marina Grande to Anacapri then either have the kids chairlift individually if they feel up to it or walking to the top. The chairlift is definitely not big enough to fit an adult and an 8 year old. The walk down took about half an hour, but a family I met at the top said it took a little over an hour to walk up. It's a really pleasant walk and a nice way to see things at your pace.
