Hi

Check out Tossa de Mar which is north of Barcelona on the Costa Brava. Its a cute seaside village with a nice beach and early history. Lots of accommodation options and good restaurants.
Check it out on: www.infotossa.com/

Also further north the towns of Platja d Aro and Palamos are also worth a look.

Have a nice time,
John

Hola, Definitely you will find many decent hotels and pensions or homes such as B&B to hang your hats and enjoy your holiday here in Barcelona. We happen to be the 5th cities most visited within Europe. Since 1992, hotels, and grand hotels has been booming (needless to express the cost of accommodation. Now if only sites is what your looking for there is a guide book holding more than 300 pages with photos of outstanding sites. Please look into our homepage and you could spend hours making up your plans as there are hundreds of sites, hundreds of places to have your meals. Our favourite place for our meals is at Cerveseria Catalana where my husband and I take all our guests. These is located right on Calle Mallorca and corner Catalunya. Avoid going there during the local meal hours, try to be there for your lunch, perhaps at 11:00 am, would be ideal so it's not so crowded, always deal with the encargado, his name is I think...Jordi and easy to spot him as his bould, wears eye glasses and his such a wonderful Catalan! He will help you, now if his not available look for these guys I think his name is Willy, short fellow, speaks enough English and indeed his very helpful too! The only sad instances we had at these place/bar/restaurant is one of our guests was so fasinated with the taste of tapas and did not noticed that there were gypies that were able to get into her pocketbook, and stole her mobile phone, and her wallet which was loaded....so, we warn you, focus on your personal belongings as Cerveseria Catalana is a very busy place and that is where many pickpocketers love to go as it's very busy bar/restaurant, as it's the very best place for tapa! Ask for my favourite, it's called : solo milio - a tenderloin steak cooked in high fire and served with tiny green sweet/spicey pepper. Then there is another place you ought not to miss - which is the famous beach, it's called "SITGES", check our homepage and there you will find out how to get to sitges the local way. Try to get off the city as early as you can and enjoy the little cutest town of SITGES. Then there is these great place to visit the museum. Make a bit of side trip, go to Figuerrras and spend all day out there ! It's all worth the trip! Have a great happy, safe, memorable time here in Barcelona. Just watch your personal belongings as lately there has been too many instances on pickpocketing throughout the city as well as outside the city.

Hola,

I live in Sitges and, as listenandlearn said, is really a good place for visiting. It's very easy to arrive by train from Barcelona and you can find more info about how to arrive in the transport tips of my Sitges page. You can go also by train to Montserrat, it's a good daytrip.

But, if you want to rent a car, you can go to Figueres and visit the Dalí museum. In the same area are also some wonderful towns, as Besalú, a medieval town with a very important gotic bridge, or Santa Pau, a cute and very authentic town, or Mieres, or Castellfollit de la Roca, that are also very nice. All of them are in the area of La Garrotxa, in the province of Girona.

Saludos.

Pili
