Hello,
When you are in big cities (Kuala Lumpur,Johor ,etc ) it is acceptable to see western men with long hair.Well, I just want to suggest you to tight & arrange your hair coz here is very very hot damp & humid outside, except in the shopping mall or mountain area. To visit mosque, you should wear knee length trousers ( no-shorts) and at least a common T shirt (without such an offensive pictures on it). Enjoy your visit!

no worries....there are many local MEN with long hair as well. everyone can visit the mosques and temples. An advise is to avoid mosque on the Friday because Friday are the prayer days for Muslim men and it always packed. Nowadays major mosques are well prepare with drapes. If your attire is not suitable to enter the mosque they are "free of charges, drapes" to cover your body. Occasionally these rule are tolerant for visitors.
As for temples....no special attire is a must...just wear to respect each religion.

LOL... Western MEN with long hair is not seen in an ugly way in malaysia. As mention earlier. It is hot in Malaysia, especially in KL. SO it's better for you to be prepare to tie your hair. And to enter a Mosques/temples just make sure you dress appropriately. No shirts with obscene words/image. Don't wear shorts to enter a Mosques. And yes do avoid the Friday afternoon prayer.
