Berlin Hotel and City Tourh for Berlin
Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 11:08 AM UTC
Hi Guys,

I will be in Berlin for about a day. To be specific, I will reach there at around 3 PM and depart next morning at 8am. Since it is a very short period, I would like to utilize it best way possible and need your help on:

1. Please help me out with the hotel which is right next to the train station as I need to catch a morning train to Prague.
2. It would be great if the hotel is a clean one but cheap.
3. Any tour guide who provides city tour that starts around 5 pm.

Thank you.

Can't help with hotel because I stayed free on points, but if you can make it to the tour site by 4 pm, here's a tour we took which was excellent - and fun!

There's still nothing around the new central station as this is where the former Wall was.

Hotel Spreebogen is a 4*-hotel one S-Bahn stop away:

Hotel Mercure an der Charité is an ugly 3* hotel a ten-minute walk away, but there's a bus, too:

Since you wanted a cheap hotel are and only going to stay for one day, this one would probably be best.

As for touring Berlin, you could also simply hop on the bus 100 or 200. Both link Zoo Station with Alexanderplatz and come across most of Berlin's main sights. These are the usual double-decker buses, so a standard ticket (EUR 2.10 last time I was in Berlin) will be valid.
A discription of the route can be found here:
