| Chennai (Madras) | TamilNadu Express to Delhi Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 09:49 AM UTC
Can anyone please tell me what the facilities and services are like on the TN Express to Delhi. I'm planning to take my parents there but considering it is a 33 hour journey wondering if it's a good idea because of their age. I want to be sure that they will be comfortable all the way. Appreciate any advice.
Thanks Mara |

Indian Railways are comfortable yet cheapest means of transportation especially for long distance journeys. In order to enhance the comfort levels, you may choose higher class for Travel. Indian Railway offers
a) Sleeper Class (Sleeping facility without AC) Cheapest One under reservation category. b) Third AC (Sleeping Facility + AC) c) Second AC (Sleeping Facility + AC+ Enhanced Comfort) d) First AC (Sleeping Facility + AC+ Enhanced Comfort+ Cabin) the costliest class available under reservation category. Apart from this, they also provide options for fast/slow trains. The best train on your route is Rajdhani Express which not only provide all the above comforts (No Sleeper Class available) but also provides food onboard & took less time to reach the destination. For Rajdhani, Train No. is 2433 Starts from Chennai Central at 0610hrs & reaches Hz. Nizammudin (Delhi Only) at around 1015hrs (next day) i.e it took around 28hrs approx. The only problem which u may face is availabiity of Reservation. To cope up this problem, Indian Railway offers 'Tatkal' service wherein u can book tickets at the max five days in advance excluding the day of travel by paying a nominal fees. For example, for journey on 6th, this service opens at 1st. I hope this will help Keep Smiling Vivek Dadu

well i will really ask u 2 take a flight because it seems 2 me tht they are coming 2 india for the frst time and they are old..so dont take a chance because most of the time the train is very late so u can add near abut another 3-4 hrs in tht time.

If you are very keen to take them by train, book a 3tier AC accommodation for them .It would be comfortable. If you don't get then 2tier AC accommodation. Food and drinks like coffee are available on the train.Beddings are provided for free till you reach Delhi.
Since they are aged, better would be by Rajadhani express where it would be more comfortable than TN EXPRESS. Ofcourse if you are able to afford, flight is the best.

the rajdhani is a better option if you cannot afford flight tickets.
