| Ho Chi Minh City | Cu Chi Tunnel and Mekong day tour Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 09:26 AM UTC
Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew of any details of doing a day tour that incorporated both the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong in one day? I know they are available seperately but we're short on time. Details on how to book the tour would be great too.
Many thanks!!! |

Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong are too far apart to do both in one day, and see something.....

Yep, Paul is correct. If you are THAT short of time, you will have to choose between them. It will be a difficult choice, as both trips are very interesting.

Go the Cu Chi tunnels option as both in one day is not really practical. I did both separately and found the Cu Chi tunnels more interesting from a history viewpont and of course it is a much shorter trip than the mekong Delta.
Short on time, go see the tunnels as it is half day tour. Sinh cafe do a half day cu chi tour followed by an afternoon HCMC city tour if you are interested. More bang for buck in my opinion.

As the other posters have said, doing both Cu Chi and the Mekong in one day is not feasible. You could incorporate the Cu Chi Tunnels with a visit to the Cao Dai temple, which is a 1-day trip. Cao Dai is very colourful and you also get to see the noon service with hundreds of devotees filing into the huge temple.
Very nearby, you will also catch a glimpse of the 850 meter high Nui Ba Den (Black Lady Mountain), which signals the border with Cambodia. The Mekong Delta has its own charms. On our 2-day trip, we were shown how the Vietnamese make rice paper and puffed rice for sweet rice cakes. We enjoyed both experiences. Many tourist agencies book these sort of tours. We went with Sinh Cafe, which we found to be extremely reasonable, comfortable and with informative guides. Sinh Cafe is located at 246 - 248 De Tham St., Dist. 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Tel: (84-8) 836 7338. We simply attended at the address and made our bookings for the following day.

One day will give you a "view" of the Delta, but if you leave HCMC the morning, most of the floating markets will be wrapping up the time you get there. So IMO better to take a 2 day 1 night with an early morning trip on the river for the markets.
