| Glacier National Park | How scary a road is Hwy 83? Posted: Fri June 27, 2008 08:15 PM UTC
I'm going to be leaving Glacier Nat'l Park and heading to Helena, MT. I'd like to take Hwy. 83 on the west side of the Rockies because I'm thinking the scenery will be beautiful. I will be driving a Chevy Astro and pulling a small travel trailer. Is this road a white knuckle drive that I won't be able to enjoy, or is it just a scenic drive worth taking?

It is hard to say since this an opinionated question.
You do not say on your profile where you are from, nor where you have traveled. It should be a walk in the park for you, if you've spent any time in the mountains. Having lived in the mountains most of my life, I find that HW 83 is a wonderful drive and is not a white knuckle ride at all.

Its a beautiful drive through Holland Lake and Seeley lake, it is a 2 lane road with crazy drivers that like to pass if that makes you nervous, otherwise, I am a pretty nervous rider and I was not on that road. Lots of camping through there also.
