| San Diego | funny weatherforcast on the internet Posted: Fri June 27, 2008 06:41 PM UTC
Next year we will go to San Diego for a vaction. We're from Belgium and are always following the weatherpredictions in this area. Almost every day I see cloudy or partial cloudy during morning afterwards sunny. To me, that seems a bit funny that the weather changes so much during the day. We also have problems to convert the Fahrenheit into Celcius. I was also surprised that the temperature in april and may not seemed so warm.

Yes, it will still be slightly chilly in April (my idea of chilly is 65-70 degrees F ha!ha!, water temp 55-60 degrees F). Probably not warm enough to enjoy the water. California beaches are great starting in June all through September and sometimes even in October. The SoCal (San Diego to Santa Barbara) beach weather tends to be the same, overcast (cloudy) in the morning and clears out in the afternoon. Every once in a while, we might have clears skies beginning in the morning and this year, we had some pretty hot temperatures in May. Any particular reason to go in April? Or going to San Diego? I had a trip scheduled to Maui in April that fell through because the airline went bankrupt. But Hawaii water and weather temps are good throughout most of the year.

The weather is so changeable due to the proximity to the bay- and that also keeps the temps 10-15 degrees cooler than much of sunny California. Evenings can be chilly because of the breezes in off the water-

A web site that you can use for temperature, (and distance), conversions: www.metric-conversions.org. Gary

San Diego can be wonderful in April, provided you are not planning on swimming in the ocean, when, as already pointed out the water is cold. If you just want to relax or stroll on the beach, however, it is less crowded then, which to me is a plus. There can be rain, but usually it is not all day rain.
Check out this web link for a chart of average temperatures and rainfall in San Diego, which is listed in both Fahrenheit and Celsius http://www.entersandiego.com/weather.cfm

In San Diego, the mornings are cloudy and the afternoons are sunny because of the weather path we are located on.
Many nights the clouds come in from the Pacific Ocean, causing what we refer to as a "marine layer" this thick bank of clouds are burned off by the sun, usually between noon and one, leaving the rest of the day sunny. We call this May Gray or June Gloom. The main thing about the weather in San Diego to consider is that it is usually "mild." What makes so many of us love it in the city is that it is almost never too hot nor too cold, there are not many rainy days all year and half of those are at night, not during the day. Basically, dressing in layers is the the best option because in different parts of the county the temperatures change ten or fifteen degrees between coast, inland, mountains and desert on the same day. As for fahrenheit and clecius, I'm not good a that either, but here on VT they offer a converter. Look at the very bottom of the page where it says "Travel Tools" click on that and you can make the conversion.

A very easy way to convert the temp in your head when going from F to C is subtract 30 then divide by 2. Example 70F - 30 = 40 / 2 = 20C. 70F = 20C. This is only an approximation (70F = 21.6C) but it gives you a basic idea of the temps. I hope this helps.

An easy way to remember the formula is to get you Americans to catch up to the rest of the world and go metric then it wouldn't matter at all. LOL

Are you kidding?
If we changed over to metric, I'd really be confused ALL the time!!

I know, it might not be so confusing if I'd stay out of the bay with that bottle of 1800 I'm sipping from.
Then, of course, I don't care how cold it is, let alone if it's in fahrenheit or celcius, after a few sips.

The best idea is call out the temps: Too damn hot, geez it's hot, hot today, very warm, warm, pleasant, cool, chilly, cold, very cold, freezing. No changing back and forth from F to C, subbing this, dividing that, adding this, all comes up meaning; geez it's hot.
