Spending 7 days in Seoul. Any good same-day trip outside Seoul besides Panmunjon, the border town?

What are your interests? Due to the awesome public transportation system there are tons of things you could do in a day, plus there are plenty of tour packages. Check out this site for ideas:

Hey thanks for the suggestion,
I suppose Seoul will be another modern Asian city. I would like to see forests and mountains and drop by a small town which still has traditional Korean culture all in one day. Ramon

If you mean culture from long ago, you would have to visit one of the folk villages. All of Korea, not just Seoul is very modern. You have to understand, Korea was basically rebuilt from the ground up after the war as it looked pretty much like the moon. There are of course mountains and forests, but to do any of those in just a day, would not do them justice. You could visit Kyongju; the living museum, but you can't really make a day trip out it.
