Hi! My family and I are planning a tour to Jungfrach via interlaken as part of a conducted tour. The itinerary calls for a two day stay at Interlaken on July Jul 18/19 with a day tour to Jungfrach on July 19. What kind of clothing aarrangements do we require since I am getting conflicting reports on the weather conditions at Jungfrach

hello
Regardless of the weather conditions (rain - sun) bring some warm long trousers, warm shoes and a heavy (or fleece) jacket. It will be cold - wintercold, switzerland style. A cap and some mittens might be useful, too. Enjoy it...

There is absolutely no way to predict the weather in the mountains for more than a day or two in advance, and even these predictions are often unreliable. You'll need heaps of good luck to catch clear conditions on that particular day scheduled for the trip. Chances are, realistically spoken, less than 50%. Have a Plan B for bad weather. If the mountain tops are in clouds this means zero visibility up there.
Rain- and windproof jacket and a warm sweater/fleece to wear underneath are necessary. It will be much colder at that altitude than down in the valley.

Hi
It will be best if you can layer your clothing going up Jungfrauhoch. Up at the peak and other places where you will take a cable car to the top, you may need a warm coat (fleece is good but make sure its wind proof) perhaps with a hood (or take a beanie). A rain roof jacket with a fleece lining will be ideal. Some wind proof hiking trousers will also be helpful. You will need to shed most of that when in Interlaken as its going to be quite warm! So, think cold up the mountain and short sleeves in the valley. Hope this helps, John

HI,
Like winterson said, the best thing would be to layer up your clothing.but definetly very cold at the mountain top.Apart from the other vts' suggestions of coats and caps, also take gloves while at the top, they will be useful(especially if you intend to play in the snow!) Have a great trip, Vpas
