What are my options if I want to travel between Almaty to Tashkent? I'd rather not fly. any information about buses, trains and shared taxis would appreciated. thanks

Am about to travel in the opposite direction and have used the german railways site (www.bahn.de) to get train times and decided to brush up on my russian before getting fleeced as i try to buy tickets as i go (for certain trains on certain days)! You can probably get peace of mind by using an agency (eg stantours.com in almaty or realrussia.co.uk) to buy a train ticket in advance but i think only for certain (better quality and safer) trains.
